Mattabesett Blue Trail Hike September 14th 9:30am

Join us Saturday, September 14 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, for a hike on the Mattabesett Trail, where you will visit the highest peak in North Branford at 720 feet (360 foot elevation gain).Land Trust member Geoff Smith will lead the hike

Follow a steep ravine through an old vineyard and hemlock grove up to the high point. This is the junction of North Branford, Durham, and Guilford. Pass intermittent streams and a waterfall. There will be at least one stream crossing. Due to the terrain, this hike is not recommended for young children. Approximate round-trip distance: 2.5 miles.

Bring water and wear sturdy hiking shoes. Meet at: Stage Coach Rd, off Route 17, in Durham. Please do not block the entrance for emergency vehicles. Park along the road wherever possible. Parking also available at SoftTail Cafe on Route 17, just past Stagecoach. Meet by 9:15 am. Heavy rain cancels the event. Call 203-488-3352 between 8 and 9am on 9/14, if not sure of hike status.
